History
The Buckley & District Reds were formed in January 2006 when 29 people attended the inaugural meeting at the Hope & Anchor Pub in Buckley. By June 2007 they had 110 members from afar as London and Glasgow.Sadly, in August 2006 our founding member and Treasurer, Paul Antrobus passed away aged 42. They raised over £1,500 for the Macmillan Nurse charity in his memory.
Dave Kelsall took over Treasurer duties at that time.
Since forming they have sponsored various players and donated to numerous Club related causes.
Their most recent sponsorship was annually for the under 8 team at Colliers which was at the under13 stage when Covid curtailed all activities.
As the Federation came into prominence, they co-funded various initiatives with the other groups
Their income is mostly generated by Annual membership, Race Nights, monthly Soccer prediction sheets, Annual Cricket match/Race afternoon with the Mold & District Reds, ‘Target’ football board at local fetes.
They held £2,500 in shares with the WST until recently. This available for future projects/ initiatives.
They won the annual 8-a-side knockout at Colliers Park at the first attempt in 2006!
They have held our Player of the Season award until every year until Covid intervened.
Their aim is, and always will be to raise funds to benefit Wrexham AFC directly or indirectly but to have some fun doing it!!
